Position Summary
Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? As a Payroll Administrator at IDL, you will play a key role in supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple projects and divisions.

Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for coordinating and processing payroll activities while ensuring compliance with company policies, union agreements, employment standards, and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with Operations, Human Resources, and Accounting to support employees and maintain efficient payroll processes.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Review timesheets, shift schedules, LOA, travel, overtime, and payroll coding for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, benefits, vacation accruals, and statutory remittances.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, union agreements, company policies, and payroll regulations.
  • Coordinate ROEs, T4s, year-end payroll reporting, and other payroll documentation requirements.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, supervisors, and external agencies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting to support onboarding, terminations, benefit administration, and reconciliations.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy within payroll operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned
     
Qualifications
  • Diploma or certificate in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PCP designation (or working toward completion) is considered an asset.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction, industrial, or unionized environments.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Experience working with payroll and accounting software systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
