Position Summary
The Pre-Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pre-construction phase, ensuring projects are planned efficiently, within budget, and aligned with client expectations. This role involves working closely with clients, estimators, engineers, and subcontractors to develop detailed project plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pre-construction process, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to define project scope and requirements.
- Prepare and review cost estimates, value engineering options, and feasibility studies.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with overall construction timelines.
- Assist with procurement strategies, including bid package preparation and subcontractor selection.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and building codes.
- Support contract negotiations and provide recommendations for project delivery methods.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to prevent delays or cost overruns.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in pre-construction, project management, or estimating within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and contract documents.
- Proficiency in estimating software, scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), and Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
